Highlands-Cashiers Web­site Design was founded by R. Keith Moore to offer state of the art web­site design & devel­op­ment ser­vices on a national scale, as well as to the Highlands-Cashiers com­mu­nity. Keith has been build­ing web­sites since the advent of the inter­net! He recently said,

“I remem­ber build­ing my first web­site in the mid 1990′s. Strug­gling through the learn­ing process involved mostly trial and error since there really wasn’t any train­ing avail­able; nor were there any stan­dards or ‘best prac­tices’ for web­site design. Table based lay­outs were about the only choice and they left a lot to be desired”.

Today, online train­ing com­pa­nies like lynda.com offer excel­lent learn­ing resources for web­site design­ers and devel­op­ers. Its a far cry from the mid 1990′s!

Many web­sites are built using the var­i­ous soft­ware pro­grams that make up the Adobe Pre­mium Web Design suite, which includes Dreamweaver, Pho­to­shop, Flash, Fire­works and Illus­tra­tor. As the web has evolved, dynamic sites built with Word­Press, Dru­pal or Joomla have become increas­ingly more pop­u­lar. These PHP & JavaScript based design envi­ron­ments are used to build dynamic CMS (Con­tent Man­age­ment Sys­tem) web­sites. CMS sites pro­vide a great inter­ac­tive end-user expe­ri­ence while allow­ing the site owner to update con­tent directly in any web browser.  At Highlands-Cashiers Web­site Design we are doing most of our cur­rent design & devel­op­ment work in Word­Press, Dru­pal & Dru­pal Com­merce.
